Hawthorn Hill

Did you know the Wright brothers and sister Katharine worked with an architect to design their “dream home” in Oakwood, a suburb of Dayton, Ohio, but sadly, Wilbur would pass away before the ground was broken to build it. The house, dubbed Hawthorn Hill, sits majestically on a hilltop and was home to Orville, Katharine and their father Bishop Milton Wright. Many world celebrities such as Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh and a host of leaders in business, science and government visited the house over the next 34 years until Orville’s passing in 1948. A portion of the licensing royalties paid to the Wright Brothers Family Foundation by The Wright Brothers USA, LLC serves the preservation and restoration of Hawthorn Hill, now open to the public.
