The Wright Propeller

Did you know that the propeller the Wright brothers hand-carved for their history-making 1903 Flyer is only about seven to nine percent less efficient than the most modern composite propellers we have today? A remarkable feat given that these self-taught printing and cycling entrepreneurs in Dayton, OH were just high school graduates. Yet they went on to become the world’s first successful, self-taught aeronautical engineers! Their unyielding adherence to the Scientific Method of problem solving established engineering principles that still serve the aviation and aerospace industry that they founded over one hundred years ago.
